Find the human centre
We began with the people behind the institution’s work: the homes, relationships, and turning points that make its mission real.
Case study · Creative Lab
An institutional story, shaped into a visual experience that helps people stop, enter, and feel the full weight of the work.
“I’m trying to find that visual speed bump. They see it and think, oh, that’s different. And they go in, and then they get the whole experience.”
Challenge
Institutions often carry their most important work in reports, campaign pages, and long-form writing. The substance is there, but the human story can disappear inside familiar formats. Furniture Bank wanted a different kind of entry point—one that could create attention first, then carry people into the whole experience.

A home is more than furniture.
The story needed to hold both the practical work and the human change it makes possible.
Process
The Creative Lab translated an institutional narrative into a sequence people could experience rather than simply scan.
01
We began with the people behind the institution’s work: the homes, relationships, and turning points that make its mission real.
02
The story was structured as a sequence of short scenes, giving each emotional beat enough space to land without overwhelming the writing.
03
Writing, imagery, and motion were brought together into a phone-first experience designed to interrupt the scroll and invite a deeper look.
04
The finished capsule became a flexible narrative asset an institution can share across campaigns, presentations, social channels, and stakeholder conversations.
Results
Engagement
The capsule gives audiences a reason to pause before asking them to understand. Its scene-based flow creates curiosity, then rewards attention with a fuller experience.
Narrative impact
Instead of separating mission, evidence, and emotion, the format lets them travel together—helping partners, supporters, and stakeholders see the story behind the work.
Institutional value
A capsule can live beyond a single campaign page. It gives development, communications, and leadership teams a distinctive story to share when they need to build understanding, earn attention, or open a conversation.
Testimonials
“In the same way Substack created a new way for people to engage socially, this is a different medium. People just don’t know it yet.”
